GLO30 is modernizing the original spa franchise concept with innovative spa spaces that prioritize the client experience through customization and appreciation. Arleen Lamba, MD, founder of GLO30, has created a brand that has franchise locations spanning across the country. Dr. Lamba sat down with Skin Inc. to discuss the importance of providing inclusive spa spaces, how to create a sensory experience through sound and so much more.
Skin Inc. (SI): Tell us about the aesthetic of your spa’s interior and the emotion you are looking to evoke from clients?
Dr. Arleen Lamba (AL): Our interior design revolves around a harmonious blend of neutral tones and rose gold accents, complemented by natural wood elements. We believe in celebrating the diversity of our membership and strive to create an environment where all humans are embraced with warmth and respect. To prioritize privacy and enhance the sense of exclusivity, each individual is treated to their own private treatment room.
SI: What inspired your design components and process?
AL: Our approach to designing our spaces is deeply rooted in our core values of equality, inclusivity and providing an intimate luxury experience in a gender-neutral environment. We believe that every individual deserves to feel valued and respected, and our design reflects this belief by offering gender-neutral spaces that promote inclusivity and comfort for all. From the selection of materials to the layout of our studios, every design element is carefully chosen to evoke a sense of warmth, comfort and sophistication. Our design process is collaborative and iterative, involving input from our team, clients and community.
SI: What is the most important thing to remember when designing a successful spa space?
AL: Ultimately, our goal at GLO30 is to create a sanctuary where clients can escape the stresses of daily life and indulge in the transformative power of self-care. We believe that our spa’s aesthetic and uplifting ambiance play a crucial role in cultivating a memorable and enriching experience for every individual who walks through our doors.
SI: Does your spa have any unique features or design aspects?
AL: One feature that sets GLO30 apart is our commitment to continuously evolving and transforming our space to reflect the changing seasons and monthly themes. We view our studios as living, dynamic environments where each visit brings a fresh and exciting experience. In addition to our ever-changing ambiance, we take pride in curating soundtracks that complement the monthly aesthetic and theme. Gone are the days of typical spa music; at GLO30, we believe in creating an immersive sensory experience that engages both the mind and body.
SI: What advice would you give to someone who is designing their spa’s interior?
AL: My advice is to stay true to yourself and your vision. Consider what message you want to convey and what emotions you hope to evoke in your customers. Reflect on your core values and let them guide your design decisions. Whether it’s a sense of tranquility, rejuvenation, inclusivity or luxury, infuse these principles into every aspect of your spa’s interior. Additionally, prioritize functionality and comfort.
