Founded by Temoc Morfin, Cilantro Taco Grill has partnered with Fransmart to bring Cilantro Taco Grill to 1,000 locations worldwide over the next 10 years. The high-traffic concept has 15 corporate-owned locations in Chicago and has created a new category in Mexican food: the authentic flavors of a Jaliscan taqueria and the scalability of Chipotle, Morfin said.
“Latinos are the engine of the business, but they’re not owning the business,” said the man who created the concept 10 years ago to share his ancestors’ recipes and to provide his community with jobs.

Throughout the United States, you see a lot of taquerias popping up everywhere, but there’s no strong franchising model for authentic Mexican restaurants, until now. Cilantro Taco Grill will add three corporate locations in the Chicagoland area by year’s end, as well as multiple franchise locations throughout Illinois and Texas.
