About Natural Hounds

A Great Idea Is Born

The Natural Hounds story began with a beloved bulldog named Biscuit. Like many bulldogs, Biscuit suffered from chronic skin and digestive issues that no commercial food could solve. Desperate to help her, her owner, Conor, tried everything — until a family member suggested cooking for her at home.

That simple idea changed everything. Within days of switching to fresh, home-cooked meals, Biscuit’s health began to improve dramatically. Encouraged by her transformation, Conor continued refining his recipes, laying the foundation for what would later become Natural Hounds’ signature approach: real, fresh food that helps dogs thrive

From Passion to Purpose

After graduating high school in 2016, Conor teamed up with his longtime friend Rick — a fellow dog lover and aspiring entrepreneur. United by their passion for dogs (they shared seven between them) and their belief in fresh nutrition, they set out to build something bigger: a brand dedicated to improving canine health through food.

They got to work — developing recipes, designing a logo, and packaging their first products: the Original Recipe, crunchy biscuits, and chicken jerky. In 2018, they debuted at the Port Jefferson Farmer’s Market. The response was overwhelming. Dog owners resonated deeply with their story and the results they saw in their own pets. Natural Hounds had tapped into a real, growing need — and a loyal community began to form.

Growth Fueled by Demand

Encouraged by their early success, Rick and Conor refined their recipes and expanded their offerings based on customer feedback. By 2019, they were fixtures at multiple Long Island markets, consistently selling out and building strong word-of-mouth momentum.

In 2020, they took the leap from farmers’ markets to a full-scale operation, signing their first lease in Port Jefferson. When the kitchen opened in 2021, it became an immediate hit — a local hub for handmade, human-grade dog food crafted fresh daily.

By early 2023, Natural Hounds expanded again with a second kitchen in Babylon Village, signaling the strength and scalability of their model. Today, Natural Hounds continues to innovate, expand its menu, and reach new communities — all while staying true to its mission: to elevate the standard of canine nutrition, one fresh meal at a time.
