STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Brooklyn Dumpling Shop only recently opened in West Brighton, but it may already have a cult following on Staten Island.
From the mind of Stratis Morfogen and helped to fruition by franchisees Antonina and Imer Cami of Grymes Hill, this long-awaited addition to the borough’s food scene is the first of three planned for the Island.

1. PASTRAMI DUMPLINGS
What’s more New York than a pastrami sandwich? The folks at Brooklyn Dumpling Shop have worked the Big Apple staple into bite-sized pieces. The brined shredded meat is surprisingly decent in its little doughy package. We could totally picture ourselves watching football on Sundays with a beer in one hand and about 10 dozen of these on a plate in front of us.

2. PLANT-BASED THAI PEANUT CHICKEN DUMPLINGS
Brooklyn Dumpling Shop has those with dietary restrictions in mind, offering some vegan and gluten-free options like the zesty plant-based Thai peanut chicken dumpling. Pieces of bell peppers abound in this “healthier” option; this is the kind of dumpling that’ll fill your stomach without filling you with guilt. We give our seal of approval.

3. APPLE DESSERT DUMPLINGS
Dessert dumplings are a thing at Brooklyn Dumpling shop. And, we can honestly say, they’re pretty darn good. We tried the apple version, and it was crispy, sweet and overall quite lovely. Just don’t eat one of these dumplings in one bite: you’ll burn your mouth (ask us how we know).

Move over, fast-food powerhouses, there’s a new favorite way to eat the classic baconeggncheese. Before we start, you might be asking yourself what a “cro’sumpling” is. Let us help solve the mystery: A croissant dumpling. Flakey dough is wrapped around, well, bacon pieces, scrambled eggs and cheese. It’s enough to make breakfast your new favorite meal.

5. PEPPERONI PIZZA DUMPLINGS
You couldn’t come to a borough like Staten Island and not do a special take on pizza. Brooklyn Dumpling Shop chose to highlight pepperoni pizza, and they did it pretty successfully. This dumpling is reminiscent of a childhood favorite, the hot pocket — except the flavor in the dumpling is kicked up about 10 notches and there’s more than enough filling.

6. PORK SOUP DUMPLINGS
You can’t go wrong with a classic. These dumplings were hands down our favorite. A plump, flavorful serving of ground pork veiled in a soft wrapper, swimming in a pretty decent broth. Truly delightful in every sense — and perfect for a cold day.
